The Waco Pipe Club is an informal group with no annual dues to pay. The club has a monthly raffle where members can purchase raffle tickets for $5 apiece or three for $10. Near the end of each monthly meeting the raffle prizes (pipes, tobaccos & related smoking acoutrements) are drawn for. Each month's raffle money is used to purchase raffle items the following month. The Waco Pipe Club also has a tobacco bar each month. Members are encouraged to bring their favorite (or, least favorite) blends to share with the group. At the end of the evening, those blends are raffled off as well.

I believe one of the reasons the Waco Pipe Club has been so successful is because we meet on a weeknight evening rather than on a Saturday morning or Saturday evening when there is some much competition for our time. Additionally, I don't think it's wise to meet more than once a month. In order to keep the flow going and each meeting "fresh," don't burn out the membership by offering a monthly weeknight meeting as well as a monthly or weekly Saturday morning get-together. What winds up happening is that some will only show up on a Saturday, some will show up only on a weeknight, and a few will show up at each. You've split your membership into groups and diluted the camaraderie by doing so. I believe it's true that sometimes you can have too much of a good thing.

The Waco Pipe Club is made up of a quite diverse group of individuals. We have a neurosurgeon, a bank president, a state district judge, an insurance salesman, a barber, a Wal-Mart clerk, etc. We all share one common bond that makes all of us great friends..... The love of pipe and weed!
